The Pocket Knife Layout

Many years ago I was working on a layout design for a friend of mine that wanted to put a layout in the garage that could move out of the way when the cars needed to come in. I designed a "pocket knife" layout which has a section that folds into itself like a pocket knife. It has some good points and bad points, but would work very well for it purpose.

One of my thoughts was that the Okefenokee Railroad could make use of this technology, but shot it down after deciding the hinge part would be too difficult to construct. Here is a drawing...
