Around the Wall in 80 Days...
We got Steve-bay out of bed with a phone call and Packrat Paul came in a little later. We build most of the L-girders that we would need and proceeded to mount them on the wall. We were having trouble with Paul's laser level, well, actually the L girders were not perfectly flat so the laser level was slightly pitched. Since we couldn't really get a straight mounting line we decided to call it quits and wait for me to go rent a 360 degree laser. We need to do the drop ceiling as well, so I'm going to spring for a rental for a day and do it all.
Normally it wouldn't be such a big deal to be a little off, but when you are putting in so much "water" the layout has to be very level or it will all wind up on the carpet.

Drywall!
Four of us hit it early this morning and drank 24 cups of coffee in
the cold Georgia air while we laid drywall. We built a small wall,
insulated the basement, installed dry wall, mounted electrical outlets
and basically abused each other verbally for every little
miscalculation and incorrect saw cut. What fun!
The swamp rooms are coming along nicely. We are still on target for
building benchwork in Mid-February, so stay tuned.
Meanwhile in the swamp...
The gators got cold and are deep in their holes. Some ice has
gathered around the now-brown lily pads. Eugene left the engine shed
early today so that he could chop more fire wood to keep the young'ens
warm tonight. Guess all seven of them will be sleeping under the big
quilt tonight.
Sweet dreams!

Work Night
Marie made chocolate chip cookies for us and I made fresh coffee. We made up some Sakrete and patched the holes in the floor, then we all laid the carpet squares down. It really made a difference on the floor.
After that we hooked up the power to the room and started debugging the wiring. My neighbor Neil did it and he made quite a few mistakes.
We also spent some time talking bout the layout and about a rolling benchwork section for the area that is Billy’s Island. I like the idea and think we’ll use it.
Power, Power Wonder Working Power
I knocked off work about 4:30 and went to prepare the basement. The guys are coming over tonight. I mopped the train room floor and straightened up a bit.
